Only a 3 hour drive south of Perth, Ruse Estate lies in the heart of the spectacular Margaret River wine country, referred to by locals as ‘Down South’. Positioned 10 minutes out of the Margaret River township, Ruse Estate is surrounded by rolling hills of vineyards, where you could easily imagine you are in the wine growing regions of Italy or France.
A stay with us provides the perfect base for exploring the region’s famous wineries, galleries and beaches. This region offers something for everyone. You can surf and swim at our fabulous beaches, go caving, bushwalking, paddling, hike the ‘Cape to Cape, cycle along the regular biking trails or explore the mountain bike trails. There’s a new quad bike adventure tour that looks fabulous.
Food, beer and wine lovers be warned- there is so much on offer down here that you are at risk of going home with tight trousers. We highly recommend that you book in early to any restaurants/wineries that you are interested in, as they do get booked out.
Ruse Estate Retreat is located on a stunning 80 acre property that features it’s own vineyard. The property is simply idyllic and it’s the perfect place to stay when you want to get away for some quiet time. The property features everything from rolling parklands with a train carriage on a beautiful dam setting with a jetty, through to a beautiful ‘lake’ on the Chapman Brook. There is natural bushland, 16 acres of grapes and going for a stroll around the property is our favourite past time, and it will be yours as well when you stay with us.
We have 3 solar passive modern chalets that have been positioned to maximise the picturesque views of our property. The chalets are positioned well away from each other to ensure privacy is enjoyed by all guests. They are set up with fully functioning kitchens and have been furnished with an understated elegance that blends in beautifully with their surroundings.
Ruse Estate is registered with Land for Wildlife (2154), a voluntary nature conservation State government and Parks and Wildlife Initiative. Not only are we home to the likes of Quenda (bandicoot), Phascagales and Ringtail Possums but we also have many reptile species such as frogs, race horse goannas and skinks. We are also graced with visits from birds such as the beautiful colourful splendid wren, Carnaby, Baudin and Redtail cockatoos, eagles and other birds of prey, and the elusive Masked Owl. We are hoping that our property will be used in the future for controlled release of some of these endangered animals and birds.
